SEPA xml message - max # of data characters

Hi,
We send SEPA xml files to the bank electronically.
How can we restrict the Payee Name to meet the required lenght of 35 characters?
Do we have to change the IBY_SEPA_STR_REM.xsl Publisher template?
If yes which programm to use?
