Cancel PO Line - Performance Issue

Dear All,
i want to cancel PO line but it takes a long time to completed.
example:

PO was created on 2012
qty = 100
qty received = 70
qty due = 30

i want to cancel PO line but there is qty due on it. what causes the process takes a long time?
how to tunning it?
