Ibstall Base conversion without serial numbers

Hi,

We are planning to do install base conversion from a legacy system into Oracle using a Oracle Install Base Mass program. These items will be marked as serial controlled in Oracle. But we are not planning to bring the old serial numbers. So is it possible to do the conversion of install base for a serial controlled item without the Oracle serial number?
