Access to analyitical data for book users

We are sucessfully using books of business to allow access to book users to selected 'book' groups of customers who they do not own and are not owned by a direct reportee,  however when we try and run reports for the same users they do not see any details.

If we change the user role profile to view all analyic data then they see all records rather than just those attached to the books the can view.

Does anyone know if there is a work around for this?
