Would re-indexing F03bXX tables helps in speeding up the report generation

Hi, happy new year in advance to all of you here..re-indexing the AR tables like F03B14 and F0911 which has about 1 million records seem failed to improve the performance in generating the customer statement.,Due to that big volumn of data, is purging only the way to speed up the performance ?

pls advice,,,
