Determining Depreciability by Dollar Amount

Is it possible to override the flag on the Asset Category whether an asset is depreciable or non-depreciable based on the amount of the Asset?  For instance, if corporate policy is to capitalize anything over $5,000, and the Asset Profile has a Category that indicates Depreciable, could the system automatically change to Non-Depreciable for an Asset with a value of $4,000 without having to do this manually.  This is a US company using Release 9.0.
