URGENT: Accounts - Revenue forecasting

Hi All,
What are the steps required for enabling the forecasting? I mean if client is asking for a report where he wants to show the account revenue variance month on month or for any time duration. Then, what all methods are available & how can we set up the the same?

Please let us know the exact steps.
