Delegation of Approval Authority

Does anyone know if delegations can work more than one level deep?  For example Manager A delegates to Manager B and Manager B delegates to Manager C.  Logically all of the approvals required by Manager A should be able to be approved by Manager C. 

We are using a BSSV call to retrieve delegations to display employee/supervisor relationships in a web interface and cannot seem to get that 2nd level of delegation to work.  I am not sure if it is inherent in JDE or if it is a BSSV issue.
