Referencing the Sales Order item in a configurator AIR derived calculation.

Is there a way to use the derived calculation function in a configurator "C" assembly inclusion rule to bring the sales order line item into a segment value for the configured item?  The documentation says that the F4211 files can not be referenced because the F4211 record is not written until the order line has been accepted.  We would like to do this so that the item number can be used as a segment value in lower level configured components that can be used by various upper level components.
