Can I change metric retention with EM Database Control using EM Grid Control instructions (Doc ID 43

 I would like to specify the retention period for my user-defined metrics.

I found Doc ID 430830.1 - Grid Control Repository: How to Modify the Retention and Purging Policies for Metric Data.

Does this apply to Enterprise Manager Database Control as well? Also, should I expect any side effects if I set the retention period to 30 days, for example? Thank you.
