Oracle 12c Database: Backing up tablespace of pluggable database from root?

edited Jan 11, 2014 8:50PM in Database Backup and Recovery (MOSC) 2 commentsAnswered
Hello Experts,

I want to backup tablepsaces of a pluggable database from the CDB/ROOT. That is while connected to CDB. I can achieve the results by doing so.

However, backup and recovery reference guide does not mention following syntax to backup tablepsaces of PDB from CDB.

syntax: PDBNAME:TABLESPACEname in order to resolve ambiguity that may arise when connected to CDB.

Please advise is this a supported command syntax and will it be supported in upcoming releases too?

RMAN> backup tablespace PDBORCL:SYSTEM;

Starting backup at 08-JAN-14
allocated channel: ORA_DISK_1
channel ORA_DISK_1: SID=266 device type=DISK
channel ORA_DISK_1: starting full datafile backup set

Howdy, Stranger!
