database writing logs to incorrect location after 11.1 to 11.2.0.4 upgrade

 hi,  I upgraded 11.1.0.7 to 11.2.0.4
My old oracle home was u01/oracle

my new oracle home is u01/app/oracle

I've set the new oracle_base and oracle_home and the database is working normally and all is good, however, the database alert log keeps writing to the old diag direct in /u01/oracle.  What do I have to do so that is writes to the new directory /u01/app/oracle/diag?
