Audit Trail : Performance Impact

 Hi All,
Please share your experience regarding performance impact of enabling audit trail.
I have to enable audit trail on 7-8 columns of some transaction tables. Is there any testing approach which I could follow to review the performance impact of this change ? There are around 4-5 transaction on these tables each day, How much performance degradation could be expected ?
We are using r12.1.2 on 11.2.0.3 Database.
