Installing 11g Grid Control

Not sure if I'm posting this in the correct place or if it should be in Database Administration, so if anybody thinks it is posted in the wrong place please advise and I shall move it.

I have been trying to install 11g Grid Control for a Standalone Server on Oracle Linux v5.  This is the first time I have attempted to install Grid Control in any environment so it is all completely new to me.  I am not getting very far with the install, when I get to step 3 'Create ASM Disk Group' there are no disks listed, I even changed the discovery path even though I'm told by the sys admin who set up the disks that they are located in the default location for Linux i.e. /dev/raw.  I have referred this back to
