E1 Upgrade from 9.0 to 9.1 Update 2

Hi - I want to know how different is an E1 Upgrade from 9.0 to 9.1 Update 2 compared to E1 Upgrade from 8.10/8.12 to 9.0.

While upgrading E1 from 8.10 to 9.0 we identified the customizations and carried forward the pure custom objects. Any changes on Std Objects & Custom objects created by copying Std Objects we retrofitted in the new release.

I have not done a 9.0 to 9.1 and I want to know "Should I do the same retrofitting ?". Last year I read an article quoting Oracle say that "Any new releases to EnterpriseOne will only be new Application or Modules which can be installed on the top of 9.0 as a Plug-in. Are we anywhere close to that..
