Oracle ZFS Data Appliance

I can't seem to create file on the Data Appliance that are not owned by 'nobody'.  And because they are owned my 'nobody' - I can't chown or chmod them.   Even as root! 

This is so frustrating.  Sometimes it seems like administrating a Data Appliance is like working in a straightjacket.
