Should the system accept UK tax registration number with spaces?

We used to be able to enter UK tax registration numbers with spaces on our suppliers until we installed version 120.32.12010000.15 of zxctaxregnb.pls. Now, we get an error unless we remove all spaces. 
Could anybody who is on a higher version of this file let me know if they have the same issue? I am hoping that this is just a glitch in this version that works again in higher versions... 

If not, could I please get confirmation that the system is now designed to not accept spaces in  UK tax registration numbers? If it is so, I know that there is an enhancement request for the system to accept dots and dashes in the future... will that revert back to accepting spaces too, if / when it gets implemented?
