Need help resolving an XML data issue using JDE / BI Publisher with JDE Check Report

I am new to developing reports using BIP so please bear with me...

I’ve been able to export my XML data for several reports and do the layout for some of them… it’s been looking pretty good until I started doing our check writing report.

The checks are printed from a program that calls a report, that calls the actual check report… getting around that was hard enough but we were finally able to export the XML data so I could start the layout.  The report that actually prints the check is a standard JDE report, R04572.

Here’s where the fun began… when I load the XML data into Word/BI it loads properly, then I open the “fields” dialog box and can see the tree of different data streams.  The problem is that none of the actual data is there.  Every single node on the tree has only meta-data, that data about the report like print date, user ID, report name, printer path, etc.  There is none of the actual data like company name, check amount, address, etc. except… in the Item section.  In this section I can see all the data I want to get at

Howdy, Stranger!
