Issue with the Non source Info when defining a new IB Transaction Subtype

We have defined a new transaction subtypes called "A" replicating the standard type called " Ship Replace - No Rtn". In the non -source info, it has Referance required field  unchecked and Status = "Return for Replacement". The same is the case for IB transaction subtype "Ship Replacement".

But when we are trying to define a new one, everything was good. But we are not able to update the "Status" field in the Non source info without checking the "Referance Required". I;m expecting we should be allowed to mention the status without making the referance field required during transaction.
