AR Open Invoices Conversion

Hi,
Can some one please clarify the relevance of using the Clearing account in the AR OPEN invoices. ?

Why we need it ?

I can also use the normal revenue account and when system generates the accounting entries it will flow to the GL and in GL i can reverse these transactions.

Please advise.
