Relink of all ad modules fails

I'm doing a platform migration of our 11.5.10.2 middle-tier from HP-UX to RHEL 5 x86.  I tried applying the custom migration patch, but hit errors that matched MoS note 756706.1 -- apparently the adpatch delivered with the custom migration patch is no good.  So, following 756706.1, I ran './adpatch preinstall=y' to recreate the ad executables.  When adrelink runs, it is erroring on every ad program with "/usr/bin/ld: unrecognized option '--hash-style=gnu'".  We have installed at least the minimum software versions doumented in MoS note 316806.1, and created the symbolic links.
