API for updating AR_NOTES

Hi,
I would like to know if there is any API that allows us to programmatically update the transaction notes (stored in AR_NOTES table) instead of entering manually through the Notes tab in the Transaction Workbench ? I could not find the related fields in Autoinvoice interface or AR invoice API.
