Unable to insert XML feild in the header and footer of RTF file

I am trying to use XML file to generate invoice report where i opened an SR before to show the barcode and oracle suuport advised to shift the report ino xml in order to show barcode. i did as the SR said but i am trying to insert xml field in the rtf file in the footer and header in order to show them in each page of the layout but i am not able.Kindly i need your help to know if it is possible to apply this?
