R12 and are having trouble with relaxing the summary templates like in 11i.

We are going to R12 and are having trouble with relaxing the summary templates like in 11i.  R12 gives us a chance  to authorize the the funds to pass funds checking, but this action also posts the JE, is this Override a common practice?  or do we need to drop the summary templates and rebuild after posting the JE?  This could take a very long time to do.
