ASM Queries

Hi,

I have installed 11gR2 Grid Infrastructure on a Standalone environment and have my ASM instance up and running. However I have some queries -

Q1. Do you normally only have 1 ASM instance / installation per server. Why would you require more than one ( I am not talking about clustering the Instance but rather discrete ASM instances )

Q2. I work for a managed seerver provider, which hosts lots of customer databases. Would it be more normal to have 1 ASM instance managing space for all the customer databases, or would you typically have an ASM instance for each customer and only manage that customer's particular databases via their associated ASM instance ?
