Order scheduling OOB functionality

Hi,

I would like to know how the order scheduling out-of-the-box works, meaning once the order is booked, what is the criteria in which the schedule_ship_date is derived and populated on the order line.

My understanding is that

If the item is a "buy" item, it would be pick, pack and ship, i.e. then how is the time/days derived for shipping the products,which tables we need to look at. Does it depend on the shipping networks lead times ?

If the item is a "make" item, then the scheduled ship date should also include the manufacturing lead times + any other item.
