DNS freez/problem

Hello,

We've got our DNS servers [primary and secondary] frozen and couldn't fulfill requests, and caused a global network disturb [what our network team reports].

My question is:

- Can DNS server disturb/stop the network traffic due the number of requests it receives?

- How can we monitor the number of incoming requests to the DNS servers?
