Unable to remotely access newly installed Oracle Linux 6.5 from Windows 7

Hi,

I have successfully installed Oracle Linux 6.5 and Oracle RDBMS 12c on an HP Proliant Microserver connected to my home network via an Ethernet connection to the router.

During installation, I configured the Ethernet connection System eth0 using the IPv4 Settings as Manual, with a made up address of 192.168.1.199 a netmask of 255.255.255.0, and gateway of 192.168.1.254, the IP address of my router. After this the HP server could see all of the Windows PCs on the home network, and I could successfully copy in files from them onto the server. From the Windows PCs, I can also successfully ping 192.168.1.199. But that is where my problems start.

Howdy, Stranger!
