Hello folks:

Question: Is the SL-8500 reconfiguration presented below possible??

I have an Oracle Sun STC SL-8500 subsystem with 1 VLE1 and 2 VSM5s.  I have been told by others in my organization that this subsystem CANNOT support a configuratiomn of two mainframe CPUs and I need to either validate that opinion or discount it. 

Each of the VSM5s have 16 ports that have 8 FICON channels and 8 drives cabled, so all 16 ports are populated: 

VSM5A: 8 FICON CHPIDs (31, 38, 3B, 3F, 43, 49, 4C & 4D) from one CPU (z/196) with support for two LPARs (SYP & SYT) using EMIF.  All CHPIDs are genned for the virtual addresses F100-F1FF.
