Cross-object Validation of a Picklist (editable) field --> Lead-Opportunity

Hello Experts,

I would like to know if it's possible to create a validation OR a workflow that will inherit the value of Lead's Major Industry to the Opportunity's Major Industry.

To make more sense, Major Industry field has the same picklist value for both Lead and Opportunity objects, and if possible to inherit the value from Lead to Opportunity. Given that the Opportunity record is a Converted Opportunity from Lead.

I am not successful in making a WF and a validation for this field as I can't find any value that will pull the information from Lead to Opportunity.
