Referring to MOS Note 734025.1 - is there a methodology to perform an 11.5.10.2 to 12.2.1 using a staged APPL_TOP?

We have used a staged APPL_TOP successfully to go to 12.1.1 and then patch up to 12.1.3 but because of the techstack changes (WLS) introduced in 12.2.1 I am not sure if this approach is possible.
