Workers Compensation: Earnings in excess of an annual limitation
How do other Canadian companies manage to report the earnings in excess of predetermined annual caps established by provincial Tax Authorities for Workers Comp Assessable earnings?
For instance, for 2014, in Ontario, the annual cap for Workers Comp assessable earnings is $84,100. This means that in order to calculate WC premiums, we must accumulate all earnings and benefits minus any excludable earnings and benefits, up to a maximum of $84,100. Any wages/benefits earned over $84,100 by the employee in 2014 is deemed to be EXCESS EANINGS and such amount must be reported to the Provincial Tax Authority using the prescribed remittance form.
For 2013, I had to develop a custom program to calculate those EXCESS EARNINGS which I updated using the F0627 Jan-Dec Overtime Pay bucket fields since those are not used in any Canadian province for the purpose of Workers Compensation reporting and filing. My client operate in several Canadian provinces. But what do other JDE Canadian clients do? I see nowhere such info in JDE. If someone has a clue, please let me know.
