PG&C Question - Obsolete Manufacturer Parts

We have a general question about PG&C and obsolete manufacturer part numbers.  Our commodity management team prefers we leave all old obsolete manufacturer part numbers on the AML.  However, we don't want to actively maintain the compliance information on an obsolete part.  Traditionally we've just been deleting the obsolete mpn's from the manufacturers' tab.  Does anyone have any alternative ideas.  For example, does anyone use a declared compliance in this situation?
