How to get the PRE owner value in the email notification

Hi,

I need some help in the syntax for getting the Previous Owner value in email notification. Whenever an owner of an opportunity assigns the opportunity to a new user, the new user should get notified through email and that email should contain previous owners name. I have this syntax in my email body %%%PRE('<OwnerFullName>')%%% but its coming back as blank.

Any advise.
