what is the significance of CP_NUM_RUN_TASKS parameter?

what is the significance of CP_NUM_RUN_TASKS parameter?

In one of the production instance for comp "LoyEngineBatch" parameter CP_NUM_RUN_TASKS. Is it possibile to

configure this parameter to certial value say 24?  If yes, how do we do that?

The actual issue we have is now.,  This comp "LoyEngineBatch" is enabled on 4 servers.  After some point of time

the value of "CP_NUM_RUN_TASKS" is comig down ..say 20 and below.

  I would like to know what could be the possibile reason why the value is coming down of this parameter. After

the comp is recycled, again the vlaue will show as 24 as it was configured.
