Is there a way to exclude an inventory asset item from Standard Cost Update?

How do i exclude an item that is routinely transacted from being picked up by the standard Oracle cost update program? The item is an inventory asset item, needs to be costed and will be active but needs to be excluded from the Standard Cost Update. Is there a way?
