APP-PER-289603 error while updating EMP type person

Hi All,

I am trying to update Gender field for an EMP type employee record after upgrade from 11i to R12. while updating it is giving following error message.

APP-PER-289603 - The person type you have entered is not valid type for this action.

Attaching screenshot for your reference.

Could some one help me to get rid error message.
