ASMCA not discovering the disk

I am setting up ASM on a Solaris test machine to experiment and learn about it. I am using 11.2.0.4 asmca and it is not discovering a disk. The disk device files are as follows:

brw-r-----   1 oracle   dba      118, 310 Feb 19 17:17 /devices/scsi_vhci/ssd@g6090a028d016b0c9ab2f0572750120ec:g

crw-r-----   1 oracle   dba      118, 310 Feb 19 16:28 /devices/scsi_vhci/ssd@g6090a028d016b0c9ab2f0572750120ec:g,raw

I created the device files under /dev/rdsk for the same major, minor device numbers as follows to try to get it to discover them, but it did not help:

# l /dev/rdsk/asmdisk1*
