Archive logs have strange timestamps - RMAN backup impacted

On one of our Oracle 10.2.0.4 instances, we have 2 ASM archive log destinations (LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_1 and 2) and the contents of these locations are cleared down via an RMAN job each night.

All has been working fine, but I have noticed that some folders are still in existence after the RMAN job has successfully completed.

e.g When I look in the LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST locations now I see one folder called 2014_02_20 and all the log files in this folder are timestamped with the same date which I would expect.

However, last week we had a number of folders  (2014_02_14, 2014_02_13, 2014_02_12, 2014_02_11) but the timestamps of the log files in the folders did not match the folder dates.
