Hiding unused registers from Back Office

Is there a way to hide the registers that won't be used within the store in BO?  When you go to Store Ops in BO it lists all the register IDs, it is really cumbersome to find a certain register with all the extra register numbers.  I see in the AS_WS table a column called FL_ACT_WS which is a flag stating whether the register is active or inactive but changing this value doesn't change anything in BO.
