Can you make changes to the system constants?

Our company has been on JDEdwards EnterpriseOne for 7+ years and I need to know if you can make changes to the system constants for the Sales price and Procurement price retrieval uom settings in the system constants.  I would like to be able to test the advanced pricing uom sequencing process but I do not know what would be affected if those two options were changed.  I am also looking for instructions on the steps to follow to make those changes properly if it is possible to change them.
