Unable to assign master item to multiple item catalogs

Hi all,

We are facing a strange problem and not quite sure whether it's a bug or intended functionality.

We are unable to assign a master item to multiple item catalogs. When we assign an item to a second catalog, the values of first catalog gets deleted !

Example:

Item "X" is assigned to catalog "C1" with some values.

Item "X" is then assigned to catalog "C2" with some values.

Result: the values of X->C1 assignment gets deleted.

Is this intended?
