Oracle Goldengate Extract abends with OGG-01028 Invalid numeric data detected

I am using GG version 11.2.1.0.17 on oracle database 11.2.0.2. The setup is capturing only DML in archived log only mode. Archives are made available for GG using NFS and GG reads the table structure from a Stub database ( stub database is not a standby for the source) .

This setup was working fine till we faced the following error.

ERROR OGG-01028 Formatting error on: table name USER.TABLE rowid AAAVmUCCACCCSsFAAD, XID 6.13.2414, position (Seqno 1690, RBA 28403008). Invalid numeric data detected. Error converting numeric from Oracle to ASCII on column column, raw length 1, raw data: AAB0FFDB: 30 |0|.
