Display Pop up message only once with a user session

Dear All,

We have a requirement to display a pop up message when user logs into CRM ondemand. We are able to do this using a web applet in My homepage. However currently the pop up is thrown when ever user clicks on My homepage tab. Please share if any one of you have come across solution to similar requirement. Thanks.
