oracle client install updates /etc/sqlnet.ora file

Hello

I have done a number of oracle binaries installs - both database and client. But last night I installed a 32bit oracle client on an AIX host and it appears that this install altered the content of the /etc/sqlnet.ora file. Specifically it removed LDAP from the NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH parameter.  This is something new to me - I don't remember ever seeing a sqlnet.ora file updated after a client instal  ( I have done a few installs where these files did not even exist). Is this something that I was missing? Is there a way to prevent it from happening? The client
