Projects Allocations

I have just started to test this.  It seems that PRC: Update Project Summary Amounts needs to be run in order to get correct allocations.  When I ran it for all projects it took 3 hours, this would be too long for our monthly close.  (It hadn't been run in a long time since we currently do not use it).  Will it run faster if run more often?  Secondly, if we used a client extension for Targets, does PRC: Update Project Summary Amounts still need to be run?
