System is shutting down, please wait ....

Hello Everyone,

I am using Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.5.

Sometimes, When I start the System and after login, When I switch to other user or Start a Database, It takes a lot of time which is not normal.

When the situation is like this, Even if I shutdown it shows "System is shutting down, please wait ...." it won't shutdown for a long long time.

What might be the reason for this.
