Finish Dates Shifting After Apply Actuals

A fellow project manager and I have racked our brains on a particular issue we are experiencing in P6 PPM and have decided we should solicit the community's help.
We have a global scheduled service setup to run every morning at 5:00am which takes the actuals from progress reporter and applies them for us. When we then view our project schedules, we notice that activity durations are being extended for activities that are in progress. I suspect that this is due to a remaining duration recalculation that is occurring when the global apply actuals runs. I know that when you apply actuals manually, you receive a dialog box that allows you to select whether the remaining duration is automatically recalculated or to do it based on the activity duration
