Oracle 12c DBCA cannot see 12c ASM instance running

Hi All, I've migrated from GI 11.2.0.4 to GI 12.0.1 and then install Oracle DB 12c. How ever when I try to create database using DBCA the DBCA doesn't see the ASM Instance running. Here are the relevant details. This is on a stand alone server. Could you please advise the problem and the solution?

[root@racnode2 oracleasm]# ls -l

total 0

drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 0 Mar  1 08:18 disks

drwxrwx--- 1 grid dba  0 Mar  1 08:18 iid

[root@racnode2 oracleasm]# cd disks

[root@racnode2 disks]# ls -l

total 0

brw-rw---- 1 grid dba 8, 1 Mar  1 08:18 DISK1

brw-rw---- 1 grid dba 8, 2 Mar  1 08:18 DISK2

brw-rw---- 1 grid dba 8, 3 Mar  1 08:18 DISK3
