Contribute to Yield to 'No' and Scale Type " Proportional". What is the Impact?

Hi,

We have process and packing formulas. We can setup UOM conversion factors for process formulas. Whereas for Packing formulas, we think its huge maintenance effort to setup conversion factors. So, We are thinking of setting up 'Contribute to Yield' flag to 'No' and Scale Type: Proportional for all the packaging ingredients.   If I set so, System does the scaling proportionately for ingredients and products without entering the UOM Conversion factors.

Is 'Contribute to Yield' flag works only with 'Fixed' Scale to Type?. I understand by setting this system try to match the yield quantity through other ingredients (Ingredient having proportional scale type with Contribute To Yield to 'Yes').  What will not work, If I set 'Contribute to Yield' flag to 'No' and 'Scale Type' to 'Proportional'?.  Please note, we don't use 'Automatic Product quantity' calculation . Also, none of our ingredients have scale type " FIxed".
